hello@soiliq.appFrequently Asked Questions
How does SoilIQ get soil temperature data? +
SoilIQ uses Open-Meteo's soil temperature model, which is based on ERA5 reanalysis climate data and live NWP (numerical weather prediction) forecasts. Your GPS coordinates are sent to the Open-Meteo API to return the soil temperature for the grid cell closest to your location.
Why does the soil temperature look different from my thermometer? +
Model data is based on regional averages and may not perfectly reflect your specific yard's microclimate โ factors like shading, mulch, irrigation, and soil composition all affect real soil temperatures. Use the Yard Calibration feature (Pro) to log your probe readings and let SoilIQ adjust its output to match your yard.
How do I restore my Pro subscription? +
Go to Settings inside SoilIQ and tap "Restore Purchase." Make sure you're signed in to the Apple ID that originally purchased the subscription. If you continue to have trouble, contact us at hello@soiliq.app.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription? +
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. To cancel, go to iOS Settings โ Your Name โ Subscriptions โ SoilIQ and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
Why isn't my location being detected? +
Make sure SoilIQ has location permission enabled. Go to iOS Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Location Services โ SoilIQ and set it to "While Using the App" or "Always." If the problem persists, try force-closing and reopening the app.
Why am I not receiving notifications? +
Check that notifications are enabled for SoilIQ in iOS Settings โ Notifications โ SoilIQ. Also make sure you've configured notification times inside the app's Settings tab. If you've signed out, notifications are automatically cancelled and need to be re-enabled after signing back in.
Is my location data stored or shared? +
No. Your GPS coordinates are used in real-time to fetch forecast data from Open-Meteo and are never stored on SoilIQ servers. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
The app shows a โ warning instead of temperature data. What does that mean? +
This means SoilIQ was unable to fetch fresh data from the forecast API โ usually due to a temporary network issue or the Open-Meteo service being briefly unavailable. Pull down to refresh or try again in a few minutes. If the issue persists, contact us.
