14-day forecast  ·  planting windows  ·  130+ crops
Free  ·  7-day Pro trial  ·  No subscription required to start
The calendar may say it is time to plant. The weather may feel warm enough.
But if your soil is still cold, germination, transplanting, and root growth can struggle before they start.

Bad timing costs real money: lost stands, failed sod installs, missed prime growing windows. The gap is rarely skill or seed quality. It's making decisions on air temperature when your crops respond to soil temperature. SoilIQ delivers the same data professional agronomists use, updated hourly and specific to your location. Free to start.

🏡
Homeowners & Gardeners
Stop planting by the calendar. Your yard runs its own schedule. SoilIQ gives you the actual soil temperature for your location and shows you which crops and lawn tasks are ready right now.
  • "Last frost date" is a regional average. Your backyard can run 2–3 weeks different depending on shade, slope, and soil type.
  • A single late frost on uncovered tomato transplants sets your season back weeks — frost alerts give you time to cover up or hold off
  • PlantAI shows you the best planting window for 130+ crops — tomatoes, peppers, squash, herbs — based on your actual soil readings
  • Morning briefings mean you never go to bed wondering if tonight's temperature is a problem
Gardeners who time by soil data consistently get better germination and establishment than those planting by the calendar.
🌿
Landscapers
Cold-soil callbacks are the most avoidable cost in your business. Sod laid on 44°F soil doesn't take. The client doesn't care why. SoilIQ gives you the soil temperature for every job before you lay a single roll.
  • Cold-soil sod failures trace back to soil temp, not plant quality. The client blames you either way.
  • SoilIQ gives you timing you can show clients: "We waited for 58°F root zone. That's why the sod took."
  • Frost alerts let you call clients before a cold snap damages fresh installs. Not after.
  • Site calibration adjusts for each job's microclimate: north-facing shade, heavy clay, irrigated vs. dry
Fewer callbacks. Faster establishment. When the client asks why you waited a week, you show them the data. That's how a delay becomes a referral.
🌾
Growers & Farms
Corn germinates above 50°F at the 2-inch zone. Soybeans above 54°F. Know your window before you commit equipment and labor. Not after.
  • Missing optimal planting windows by even a few days means fighting a compressed season. Lower yield potential you can't claw back.
  • Cold-soil soybean emergence can reduce stand density 15–30% vs properly timed planting, before a single input problem
  • SoilIQ monitors your field soil 24/7 and fires an alert the moment your window opens or closes unexpectedly
  • Frost alerts give you 24–48h lead time to protect what's already in the ground
Knowing 4 days ahead that your root zone will hit 54°F changes your entire week: equipment scheduling, labor, everything. That edge is free.
Golf & Turf Professionals
Bermuda transitions at 55°F soil surface. Overseed ryegrass below 65°F. Stop going on gut feel when the soil data is right there.
  • Seeding before soil is ready = patchy germination, wasted seed budget, and unhappy members before summer play
  • SoilIQ's PlantAI projects your transition window from your course's actual soil readings, not a regional average
  • Frost alerts protect newly overseeded greens before a cold snap wipes out days of labor and inputs
  • Year-round soil temp history helps you sharpen aeration, fertilization, and overseeding timing every season
One avoided re-seeding job pays for years of Pro. When the board asks why you held off, you hand them a chart. Not a gut feeling.
Purpose-Built for the Field

Built for Better
Growing Decisions

SoilIQ turns soil temperature, forecast trends, frost risk, and crop data into clear guidance for when to seed, plant, water, protect, or wait.

🌡️
"I just check the weather app — why do I need this?"
Weather apps measure air temperature. Your crops respond to soil temperature, and in spring they're routinely 10–20°F apart. A 65°F air day can sit on 42°F soil that will rot a seed before it germinates. SoilIQ measures what the weather app can't: what's actually happening at the root zone, at every depth, updated hourly and forecasted 14 days out.
🌡️
Soil Temp at Four Critical Depths
Surface through 21" deep. Four zones, live and forecasted. Not air temperature, not a regional estimate. The actual number at your germination layer, root zone, and deep moisture reserve, updated every hour.
Live + Forecast · 4 Depths
  • Surface (0"): warmest by day, most exposed at night. The first number to check when a freeze is in the forecast.
  • 2" (6cm): the seed germination layer. Seeds won't sprout below their threshold no matter what the air says. This is the number that decides whether you plant or wait.
  • 6" (18cm): where transplants draw water and nutrients. Critical for turf health, transplant survival, and cover crop timing.
  • 21" (54cm): slow to change and tells you how long your window will last. Your deep moisture reserve.
Air and soil temperature are routinely 10–20°F apart in spring. Only one of them matters to your seed. SoilIQ reads both so you always know where you actually stand.
🤖
PlantAI: Projected Planting Windows
SoilIQ reads your live soil data and 14-day forecast, then projects when each crop is likely to reach its ideal planting window. Not "after last frost" — a soil-informed estimate: "Tomatoes: 4–6 days until your root zone is ready."
PlantAI · 130+ Crops
  • 130+ crops with crop-specific guidance, updated as your soil changes — not static planting dates.
  • Factors in soil temp trend, rate of warming, frost risk probability, and growing degree day accumulation
  • Shows forecast-aware timing windows that help you plan ahead with confidence
  • Color-coded status: Ideal Now / Days Away / Too Cold / Too Hot / Risk
"Tomatoes: projected 4 days until best window — root zone estimated to reach 60°F on Apr 11. Window stays open ~18 days."
❄️
Frost Risk Forecasting
A frost on unprotected transplants or a freshly overseeded green isn't just inconvenient. It's expensive, and it's avoidable. Track frost probability 14 days out and get alerted before the window closes.
14-Day Outlook
  • Night-by-night frost probability chart across the full 14-day outlook, not just a single low temperature
  • Color-coded risk levels: Safe · Watch (20–50%) · High Risk (50%+) · Frost Likely
  • Push alerts fire 24–48 hours before a predicted frost event, giving you maximum time to act
  • Surface soil temp is tracked separately from air temperature, since soil frosts later than air
A late-season frost on newly overseeded turf or uncovered transplants can wipe out days of labor. SoilIQ gives you the lead time to protect it.
📍
Site-Specific Calibration
Model data gives you a baseline. Log your own probe readings and SoilIQ adjusts every forecast to what's actually happening in your specific field. Shade, soil type, irrigation, and slope all factor in over time.
Pro · Site-Specific
  • Regional model data can be 5–15°F off for your specific field. Calibration closes that gap.
  • Log a probe reading and SoilIQ calculates a persistent offset applied to every future forecast
  • Factors that affect your site: tree shade, soil type (clay vs. sandy), mulch depth, irrigation, slope
  • The more readings you log, the sharper your forecast gets
A shaded north-facing bed can run 8°F colder than an open south-facing field 50 feet away. Your readings teach SoilIQ your site.

Leave your phone in the truck. SoilIQ's Apple Watch companion delivers current soil temperature and planting status on your wrist. Complications available for every watch face.
Apple Watch

  • Complications for every layout: corner, modular, infograph, and more
  • Frost alerts go straight to your wrist, even with your phone in the truck
Built for people whose hands are in the dirt. Your most critical data, one glance away.
🔔
Soil-Informed Weather Alerts
An unexpected frost, a cold snap, a sudden temperature drop. SoilIQ alerts you when conditions are about to change, giving you time to cover transplants, protect crops, or reschedule field work. You shouldn't wake up to damage you could have prevented.
Real-Time Alerts
  • Frost incoming: fires 24–48 hours before a predicted frost, enough time to cover, harvest, or reschedule
  • Soil temp threshold: notified the moment your soil crosses your target planting temperature
  • Cold snap: sudden multi-day drop detected in the 14-day forecast. Act before it hits.
  • Morning briefing: daily soil summary with today's risk level and any upcoming weather threats
Alerts fire before the event, not after. That's the difference between protecting your crop and losing it.

Why Depth Matters

Different crops.
Different depths.
Different timing.

Corn germinates above 50°F at 2". Bermuda grass goes dormant below 55°F at the surface. Tomato transplants need 60°F at 6" to take hold. These aren't rules of thumb. They're biological thresholds. Get them wrong by a week and you're fighting the season all year.

Air temperature and soil temperature are routinely 10–20°F apart in spring. Regional model data can vary another 5–15°F from your specific field depending on shade, mulch, irrigation, and soil type. Both gaps matter when you're committing seed or labor.

SoilIQ tracks all four depths, live and forecasted 14 days out, so you always know exactly where you stand before you put anything in the ground.

Your Questions, Answered

Your experience is real, and it's your most valuable asset. But experience is built on historical patterns, and weather is no longer behaving historically. Growing seasons are shifting. Last frost dates are moving. Spring cold snaps are arriving later and more erratically than the patterns you built your knowledge on. SoilIQ doesn't replace what you know — it validates it in real time. Think of it as your instinct, confirmed by live data. When your gut says "plant this week" and SoilIQ's root zone reading agrees, you move with total confidence. When they disagree, you have 14 days of forecast to figure out why before it costs you a stand.
No one's asking you to change your routine. Just add one data point to it. The 2010s and 2020s have produced the most irregular spring temperature swings on record in most of North America. Late-season cold snaps, compressed warm windows, and early heat events are becoming the norm, not the exception. The farmers and superintendents who added soil data to their existing routine didn't abandon what worked. They stopped losing the seasons where history wasn't a reliable guide. SoilIQ takes 60 seconds to check. One season where it prevents a loss and it's paid for itself indefinitely.
Not even close. In early spring, air and soil temperature are routinely 10–20°F apart. A warm week that pushes air temps to 65°F can sit on soil that's still 42°F, cold enough to rot a seed before it germinates. Seeds, roots, and turf don't respond to what's happening in the air. They respond to what's happening at their depth. Corn germinates above 50°F root zone. Tomatoes need 60°F at 2 inches. Bermuda grass goes dormant below 55°F soil surface. Air temperature tells you what to wear. Soil temperature tells you when to plant.
Extension data is regional, usually averaged across an entire county or climate zone. Your specific field can run 5–15°F different from the regional average depending on soil type, shade, slope, irrigation, and mulch. A north-facing shaded bed and an open south-facing field 50 feet apart can be a full week apart in planting readiness. SoilIQ's live model data combined with My Yard calibration narrows that gap significantly, giving you data specific to your site, not your county. And it delivers it as a 14-day forecast with planting windows already calculated, not a table you have to interpret yourself.
SoilIQ asks one thing of you: open it once in the morning. The app tells you your soil temp, which crops are ready, and whether anything is about to change in the next 14 days. No configuration, no manual data entry. The free tier costs nothing and gives you live soil readings, a Soil Health Score, and hourly chart from the moment you open it. If you try Pro for 7 days and it doesn't fit your workflow, cancel in seconds from your iPhone settings.
SoilIQ pulls from high-resolution global data updated hourly, but no model is perfect for every field. That's why Pro includes My Yard: log a manual thermometer reading and SoilIQ applies a persistent correction to every future forecast for your site. The more readings you log over time, the sharper your local accuracy gets. Real growers who've run the same field for years build a profile that becomes more accurate than any regional estimate, calibrated to their specific field conditions.
Both can be right. They're measuring different things. SoilIQ's reading comes from a high-resolution atmospheric model that estimates soil temperature at standardized depths across a ~1–9 km grid cell centered on your location. Your physical probe measures the exact spot you pushed it into. These will legitimately diverge for a few reasons: depth — a probe at 3 inches reads a different layer than the app's 2-inch root zone value. Time of day — surface and shallow temps swing 8–15°F between morning and afternoon, while the model represents a daily average. Microclimate — a south-facing raised bed against a brick wall can run 10°F warmer than an open field 20 feet away. Soil type — dense clay and saturated soil hold cold much longer than loose, well-drained beds. Use Probe Calibration in SoilIQ's Settings to enter your probe reading alongside the app's reading. SoilIQ calculates the offset and applies it as a persistent correction to every future reading for that location, closing the gap between the model and your actual ground.

Stop guessing. Plant by soil.

Check soil temperature, frost risk, planting windows, and 14-day forecasts before you seed, plant, or water.
